Dr. Monika Balikienė is an ethnologist with a background education in anthropology (BA from Vilnius University, 2002) and history (MA from Vilnius University, 2004). She has acquired her Ph.D. in ethnology from the joint doctoral program of Vytautas Magnus University and the Lithuanian Institute of History in 2012. Dr. M.Balikienė is actively engaged in ethnological field work and publishes widely, focusing on issues related to superstitions and spells in Lithuania. However interdisciplinary knowledge she possesses allows Dr. M.Balikienė to cover a variety of topics in sociology, anthropology, gender studies and health sciences also.
