Dr. Tautvydas Žėkas has acquired his PhD in law from Vilnius University in 2011 and had been lecturing criminal law both at Vilnius University and Mykolas Romeris University. He had also been a research fellow of the Law Institute of Lithuania and expert of the National Centre for Special Needs Education and Psychology. Major research interests of Dr. T.Žėkas relate to the criminal law of the European Union, they had been cultivated during scholarships held by Dr. T.Žėkas at the University of Antwerp, University of Fribourg and the European Institute for Crime Prevention and Control, affiliated with the United Nations (HEUNI), as well as at summer schools that he had participated in Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Serbia, Montenegro, Luxembourg. However Dr. Tautvydas Žėkas is also engaged with other research themes, including rights of children and juvenile justice, economic crime and is actively publishing on these issues in legal and sociological academic journals. Dr.T.Žėkas has taken part in a number of national and international interdisciplinary research projects: „Creation of Safe Environments at Schools“ (The Human Resources Development Operational Programme, 2014-2015), „Cutting off Criminal Gain: Classic and Modern Ways to Confiscate Proceeds of Crime“ (The National Research Programme „Social Challenges to National Security“, 2012-2013), „ISRD-3: International Self-Report Delinquency Study“.
