Dr. Živilė Nedzinskaitė has acquired her PhD in philology from the joint doctoral programme of Vilnius University and the Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore in 2008 and has been a research fellow of the Department of Ancient Literature at the Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore since then. Research interests of dr. Ž.Nedzinskaitė concentrate on the ancient and comparative literature, poetics and rhetoric of Baroque, Latin language, and the Latin poetry of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania with a special emphasis of the works of Matthias Casimirus Sarbievius (1595-1640) and impact of Jesuits upon the cultural life in Europe. She has authored more than 20 research publications on the aforementioned themes as well as presented amplitude of research papers at national and international research events. The themes of research Dr.Ž.Nedzinskaitė is engaged with are interdisciplinary in their nature thus Živilė Nedzinskaitė has acquired significant knowledge in history, anthropology and cultural studies during research fellowships she has held at the Lithuanian Institute of History (Vilnius) and the Manuscripts Department of the National Library of Russia (Moscow), she has stayed with the Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw. Dr.Ž.Nedzinskaitė constantly participates in research projects funded by the Research Council of Lithuania and has headed three research projects of the Research Council of Lithuania ("Sources of Humanistic Education in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the XVIIth and XVIIIth Centuries: A Reconstruction of the Theoretical System", "Reception of the Poetics and Poetry of Matthias Casimirus Sarbievius", "The 1695 Kražiai Manuscript: Translation and Publication").
